NEW Euro Profile Cylinder Locks

Euro Profile Cylinder Locks are the same lock type that you might use in your from door. PharmacyMedical have adapted their controlled drugs cabinets to accept this type of lock.

Previously all PharmacyMedical cabinets had used a traditional 7 lever mortice lock. This lock surpasses the requirements set out in bs:3621:1998 which states that the lock should be either a 5 lever mortice or a 6 pin euro profile cylinder lock.

This lock has been well adopted by those who have used it and it has proved to be a reliable and robust locking system supporting our desire to offer both quality and affordability.

As good as the mortice lock is, they are rapidly becoming outdated as a locking mechanism. They are a fixed design and not the easiest lock to locate the key in. As a result of this, and the desire to make our cabinets compatible with the latest locking technology, we have upgraded to the euro profile cylinder locks.

At the time of writing this, we are in the transition period between lock types. Some cabinets have the mortice lock, some the euro profile cylinder locks, so we ask that you check before ordering if a certain lock type is to be an issue. We can fit euro profile cylinder locks to any cabinet if it is not already standard (i.e still using a mortice lock), however this will add to the lead time (only on cabinets still using the mortice lock).

After research into the best lock to offer our customer, and as a result of our dealings with Assa Abloy in sourcing the electronic CLIQ and RFID locks for our bedside cabinets, we sourced Yale 6 pin euro profile

cylinder locks. We believe that it is beneficial to offer a well known name as our lock provider as they offer many significant benefits:

• They are BSI Kitemark approved – KM532920
• The cylinder is rated to TS007 1 Star *1
• It is a Secured by Design Approved cylinder
• The lock cylinder comes with a 10 year grantee from the manufacturer!
• Tested to BS EN1303:2005

The lock is also features the following, further cementing it as the ideal lock choice:

• Strengthening bar provides additional strength against physical attacks
• Grip deflectors make it difficult to grip the cylinder and protects against physical attack with tools.
• Anti-Bump, Anti-Pick, Anti-Screw and Anti-Drill protection
• 3 Keys supplied

Yale have developed their AS series of euro profile cylinder locks to to incorporate additional features to make them more secure than the competition. This is a feature that compliments our controlled drugs cabinets as they are manufactured from thicker steel than the competition, making them additionally secure.
